WhatsApp Business

Outbound WhatsApp Cloud API access through a customer-owned Meta app. The platform attaches one bearer token to fixed Graph and media hosts. This connection does not enable an agent channel or register webhooks.

What the connection reaches

  • Cloud API messages and media metadata on graph.facebook.com
  • Authenticated media downloads on lookaside.fbsbx.com
  • Callable from pipelines and from ontology actions

Connect WhatsApp Business

Three steps, the same for every connection. The credential goes to the platform, never into the repository or pipeline code.

  1. 1

    Declare it in connections/connections.py

    connections/connections.py
    from segmentstream.connections import WhatsAppBusinessConnection connections = (    WhatsAppBusinessConnection(key="whatsapp"),)
  2. 2

    Deploy

    $ segmentstream deploy
  3. 3

    Connect

    Create a customer-owned Meta app with WhatsApp, register the business number, and assign a least-privilege system user to the app and its WhatsApp assets. Generate a token with whatsapp_business_messaging and whatsapp_business_management.

  4. 4

    Then

    Paste the system-user access token (from Meta Business Settings > System users; never the Meta app secret) into the connection in the console, or configure it from the terminal with a hidden prompt. API-key connections need no authorisation step: once the value is set, the connection is connected.

    $ segmentstream connection configure whatsapp
  5. 5

    Then

    Check token expiry and arrange rotation. Confirm the portfolio's current limits and the use case's eligibility under Meta's AI Provider rules before production use.

Use it

Code asks for the connection by its key. The platform adds the credential on the way out.

pipeline/ingestion/…
import segmentstream as s with s.get_connection("whatsapp").get_http_client() as client:    response = client.get(f"/{phone_number_id}", params={"fields": "display_phone_number"})    response.raise_for_status()

Or ask your agent

“Connect our own Meta app to the WhatsApp Cloud API.”
